We realized immediately that an off-the-shelf template would not work. Instead, we opted to build the entire experience from the ground up, allowing us complete control over the design and functionality.
Nailing the Aesthetic Balance
To begin with, we developed a design system that respected Elgiganten's core branding colors while injecting the dynamic, dark-mode aesthetics expected by the Dreamhack audience. As a result, the branding was spot on, looking both highly professional and undeniably "esports."
Flawless Event UX (User Experience)
At a chaotic event like Dreamhack, users need information instantly. Therefore, we structured the UX to be perfectly intuitive. Specifically, we built clear, interactive modules for the event timeplan, booth maps, and giveaway instructions. Consequently, attendees could find exactly what they needed in seconds, right from their phones.
Fully Custom Development
Because Elgiganten needed unique features specifically for this event, we custom-coded the entire platform. While this meant the delivery time was slightly longer than a standard template build, the final result was a lightweight, ultra-fast application that performed flawlessly under heavy event traffic.
Scalable Infrastructure for Event Traffic
Furthermore, a massive live event like Dreamhack generates sudden, highly concentrated spikes in web traffic. Specifically, whenever Elgiganten announced a new giveaway or a schedule update at their booth, hundreds of attendees would hit the site simultaneously. Therefore, we engineered the backend architecture to scale dynamically under pressure. As a result, the landing page remained lightning-fast and completely stable throughout the entire weekend, ensuring zero downtime when it mattered most.
